Hillside Stewardship Landowner Workshop - RESCHEDULED

***Due to weather, this event has been rescheduled from April 20 to Saturday, May 11***

Edwards Aquifer Authority Field Research Park | San Antonio, TX (Location and directions will be shared with registrants prior to the event)

This will be a fun, interactive, hands-on opportunity for Hill Country landowners. We’ll explore several structures (and build one or two) designed to mitigate erosion, enhance soil moisture and land productivity, as well as enable resilience to drought and flooding. These structures are cost-effective and can often be built using materials commonly found on properties like brush slash or cuttings and loose rocks.

Registration is $15, which includes snacks, drinks, printed educational materials, and learning from one of the top experts on the topic. Dr. Mollie Walton, a restoration ecologist with deep ranching-roots in Hamilton County, has supported land stewards across the West for decades to restore productivity to their rangelands. In addition to learning from Walton, participating land stewards will also have the opportunity to share their own stewardship experiences and lessons learned with one another.

Agenda:

9:00 AM    Overview of the day, Welcome to Edwards Aquifer Authority - Field Research Park with Thomas Marsalia, and Introduction to Hillside Stewardship concepts with Dr. Mollie Walton

10:00 AM   Tour of pre-existing erosion-control structures on site

11:00 AM  Hands-on Stations: Stations will discuss two hillside structures (i.e. one rock dam & rock run down), their purpose, and practice building them

11:45 AM   Reconvene and reflect, Q&A and Discussion, Wrap Up

Register soon as spots fill up quickly for these events!
