2023 - 2024 Riparian Stewardship Landowner Workshop Series in Boerne, TX

Join Hill Country Alliance and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for our three-part riparian series! This workshop series is tailored specifically to river- and creek-side landowners in the Hill Country and features Steve Nelle, who literally and figuratively wrote the book on stewarding Texas riparian areas! It's a great opportunity for local landowners to learn from topic experts on practices and hands-on skills that can help enhance and protect their properties and the river. Please find details for parts 1-3 below. If you're just now learning about this series and would like to join in, attendance at Part 1 (Oct '23) is NOT required to attend Part 2 or 3!

Our second workshop in the series is coming up on Saturday, February 3rd from 2:00 - 4:30 PM. We'll head outside for an educational, hands-on field day restoring a riparian–or riverside—area with topic expert, Steve Nelle, and our partners at Texas Parks and Wildlife! This field day is a fantastic opportunity for local landowners to learn about (and implement!) active riparian restoration practices and planting methods for bolstering plant establishment along creeks and rivers. We will kick off the day with a brief walk and discussion of a riparian area along the Upper Guadalupe River and spend the remainder of the day getting our hands dirty with restoration practices and planting techniques including seed broadcasting, transplanting, and planting tree pole cuttingsAttendees will leave with great resources to help jump start their own streamside restoration, including a Remarkable Riparian Field Guide (a one-stop shop for all matters Riparian in the Hill Country, this book walks readers through the fundamentals of riparian areas and has a fantastic plant guide for common, native plants found in and along our rivers and creeks), educational resources, and riparian seeds and starter plants!
